How do I fix a Hunter ceiling fan remote control?

January 2nd, 2011

My son broke my ceiling fan remote and I have no idea what to do. Can it be replaced or fixed? I’m not really finding anything online. It is a Hunter ceiling fan and the remote controls the fan and the light. It attaches to a plastic bracket on the wall that sits over the light switch. As far as I can tell, the fan and light are inoperable without the remote. Anyone know how to fix this issue?

How a working ceiling fan can be made automatically on and off at an interval of ten minutes?

December 30th, 2010

Before gong to sleep at 10 P.M., manually switch on the ceiling fan and it must automatically OFF after ten minutes. Then again it must automatically ON after ten minutes. This process is to be continued till 6 A.M. until it is switched off manually. In order to make the above mentioned technology practical ,what equipment is required? What will be its approximate cost? In which address should I contact?

Will this switch work with my setup?

December 30th, 2010

I have a combo fan/light and a regular globe ceiling light all on one circuit currently connected to a single toggle switch. I would like to install a dual control fan/light dimmer switch. I found this one, will it work? When I opened my wallbox for the switch I found one black wire, one white wire, and one copper wire. Will this switch work with my set up?
I believe the fan is controlled all together by one wire in the box, which is fine because there are pulls on the fan to control the speed and the light. If possible, could I route the ceiling globe light to the "light" slider, and the fan/light combo to the "fan" slider, instead of having both lights on the light slider and the fan on the fan slider, since I believe the fan/light is controlled by one wire?

Will 3 – 60 watt bulbs give off more light than 1 – 100 watt bulb in a dining room light fixture?

November 15th, 2010

Our old ceiling fan took a 100 watt bulb (in a round white globe) and that was enough light for this room, our new fixture takes 2 – 60 watt bulbs and it is too dark. Preferably using only one fixture how can I get this room lit up to the 100 watts of light we had before ?

How do I get ceiling fan/light to work on independent switches?

November 15th, 2010

I just moved into a new condo and all of the rooms have ceiling fans with lights. The problem is that each room has a dual light switch but only one switch operates both functions of the ceiling fan/light. The last place I lived in in had the same switches but one operated the light and one operated the fan. Is there any way to accomplish this without rewiring?

Why does my ceiling fan have wiring problems?

November 11th, 2010

I didn’t check the wiring of the old ceiling fan I uninstalled. So, I did every possible correct wiring and all I can get is my ceiling fan to work, but it won’t turn on/off by the light switch. Only by the chain pull cord.

Also, my bathroom has no power (no sockets work, nor does the light.).

If I try a slightly different wiring scenario with the fan the bathroom and my ceiling fan share power (Both the lights are dim) and the bathroom light switch switches my fan on and the bathroom light.

Time to call an electrician?

Let me rephrase – Where can I find a ceiling fan that does not have the conventional horizontal blades?

October 29th, 2010

I don’t want the conventional blades that stick out horizontally as I have very little space for that as my ceiling light fixture is very close to the wall. I am thinking something that works similarly to the thin floor fans that are cylindrical – they don’t use conventional blades and they circulate air. I am just curious if any one has applied that kind of system to a ceiling fan that would hang more vertical in fashion. I saw the Purifan model with the Hempa filter but I was just wondering if there were anymore out there.

October 24th, 2010

If you dont know what im talking about im talking about the little things at the end of the two chains that hang down from you ceiling fan. One chain is for the light and the other for the fan speed. My brother is the one who needs something but he doesn’t know what to put. What could he use, anything that you think would be good for this will work.

how do you change a light bulb in a harbor breeze ceiling fan?

October 20th, 2010

My Harbor Breeze ceiling fan was bought at Lowes. It has two fans with a light in the middle. The bulb blew. It took months to get this fan to where the blades didn’t knock the rods/braces. The bulb blew. It’s covered by one single dome. I can’t figure out how to get the dome out to replace the bulb.
I already checked and can’t get the dome to budge. There are screws on the side, but are almost covered making it almost impossible to get it.

How do I change the direction of my ceiling fan?

October 19th, 2010

How do I fix the chain on my ceiling fan?

October 19th, 2010

There’s 2 chains dangling from our ceiling fan. One for the light and one for the fan. The one for the fan just got jerked too hard and it’s still up and inside but it’s obvious it’s been pulled a couple of inches away from where it was and we also can not turn the ceiling fan on now.

How do we reconnect it where it was – goes?

How much would it cost to install a ceiling fan into a room?

October 16th, 2010

I just moved into a house and the room I’m sleeping in is too hot and I like to sleep in a colder climate. The ceiling is about 10 ft. high. I’ve never installed a ceiling fan before so I’m checking to see how much it would cost to get one installed for me. The only place I know that sells them is Lowe’s, do they install them for you if you pay an extra fee? If so, how much? Or what is the average a contractor who does that kind of job ask for?

who here has a problem with fanaticism and football?

October 6th, 2010

Don’t get me wrong. Football is very entertaining and fun to play. I have great memories of those thanksgiving day games out in the front yard with family. But, do you think the amount of devotion to football (specifically the NFL) is just a little overboard and these attentions are misplaced. For example: My cousin is a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. Growing up, I remember his room. It looked like Jerry Jones vomited everywhere in that room! With framed posters on the walls. A ceiling fan that had blue fan blades with silver stared tips and a globe that was a cowboys motiff. Of course the lamp, curtains, and bed spread were all cowboys. This was the first time I ever considered there may be a sickness here. What do any NFL teams do for us personally other than provide entertainment? What’s hilarious is the amount of money people will throw down to support their team and that team and owner has no idea who in the hell they are.I don’t remeber Jerry Jones ever having dinner over at my cousin’s house. I’ve never understood the need either to wear a 100% authentic NFL jersey or team shirt to a game to show your support. Isn’t the millions these players get paid support enough to play well? What’s more, why do people feel compelled to by all this merchandise? They throw down, what 0 for a jersey (and that money makes it’s why to the owner(s) of the team) and wear it proudly around where everyone can see you are a fan of such-and-such team. Essentially, you’re paying the owners to advertise for them. What a brilliant marketing scheme. Like leaving the dealer tag on your new vehicle to advertise free for the car dealer. How about the millions compaies pay the NFL to use the logo to become an "official sponsor of the NFL". You don’t have to have any hard approval. All you need is the dough to be an official sponsor. All the money they spend they just turn around and make it back on us the consumer. Gatorade really has gotten expensive since the 70’s. How about what the NFL gives back? Don’t throw out the United Way as an example. Look up how the United Way got started. It was developed by Pete Rozelle to get the players involved in the community and thereby promote the NFL itself. Think of the tax write-offs also. I shouldn’t just single out the NFL. I could write pages of a brutal hatred for NASCAR and the NBA. But really, I see no difference between a diehard nascar fan and a NFL fan. It’s such an arbitrary activity that has no true bearing on important matters. I wish people might use their extra time (and the money they’d spend on merchandise) to perhaps help our military veterans. Oh, there’s so much more but I’ll leave it at that. Yes, and i know it’s what ever the individual wants that makes him happy. If paying over 0 for a team jersey makes a person happy then i gues let them be happy. I’ll choose not to support the NFL or anything like it untill I see they support my team of me.

How do you convert a ceiling fan light kit to a chandelier? Parts? Where to buy?

October 1st, 2010

I have an old style ceiling fan light kit that uses 4 inch fitter glass globes. 2 1/4 inch fitters are the normal size today for chandeliers. I want to use the globes again in a chandelier since they match our decor, but I can’t find any lighting reasonably priced with 4 inch fitters. So, I got the wild idea of converting the light kit into a chandelier. It will require a chain, wire and some parts to make a chandelier body, but I don’t know where to get started. Anyone do this before?
